MDPE Compression Fittings

MDPE Compression Fittings are mechanical fittings used to securely connect MDPE pipes without the need for heat or specialist tools, providing a reliable and watertight joint for water supply systems.

About MDPE Compression Fittings

Designed for use with MDPE (Medium-Density Polyethylene) pipes, compression fittings offer a simple and quick installation method. They are commonly used for underground water supply, service connections, and irrigation systems. These fittings work via compression nuts and internal seals, ensuring strong and leak-free joints.

Suitable for both cold water and potable supply networks, they are available in various formats to connect straight pipe runs, change direction, reduce sizes, or transition to metal pipework.

Benefits

  • Easy installation: No soldering, gluing, or fusion welding required.
  • Reliable seal: Compression ring provides secure and watertight connection.
  • Reusable: Can be disassembled and refitted if adjustments are needed.
  • Corrosion-resistant: Made from high-strength polymer and brass inserts.
  • Time-saving: Ideal for quick pipe repairs or new installations.

Applications

  • Underground mains water distribution.
  • Service connections to properties.
  • Irrigation and agricultural pipe systems.
  • Commercial and industrial water supply.
  • Rural and utility infrastructure networks.

Key Features

  • Mechanical compression joint – requires only tightening.
  • Compatible with MDPE blue pipe (typically 20mm–63mm).
  • Available as couplings, elbows, tees, reducers, end caps, and adaptors.
  • Suitable for potable water systems (where WRAS approved).
  • Designed to meet BS EN 12201 and WRAS standards.
  • Pressure rated typically up to 12.5 bar (verify per product).

Installation & Technical Info

Ensure pipe is cut square and chamfered. Insert pipe into the fitting fully, tighten compression nut by hand, then use a wrench to tighten to manufacturer recommendations (usually 1–2 turns). Do not overtighten as this may damage seals.

Pressure-test the system after assembly. Install in accordance with water authority guidelines and ensure fittings are suitably protected if laid underground.
